The way the ghost looks for players works off of line of sight. You will always have a minimum number of hiding spots per difficulty. It only really works with the strong one, you can do it with the weak one too but you have to tilt your camera up slightly to get it to work and if the ground is too dark to begin with it won't work.If you just point at flashlight at your feet it will completely stop sanity drain. So funny thing about all this is you can abuse the ♥♥♥♥ out of it with flashlights. The darkness of the ground itself has an effect too Basically if the ground you are standing on is kinda dark you are probably loosing sanity. So don't assume if you have the light on in a room that it will completely prevent sanity drain. Dark spots in rooms that have lights on will also still drain sanity at the same rate.Flashlights will not prevent sanity drain at all whilst held.Sanity shown in the van will show the actual value and +/-2.The average sanity is what determines sanity related events e.g. Each's players sanity is combined (excluding dead players) to make the average sanity.Sanity pills restore 40% amateur 35% intermediate 30% professional 25% nightmare.A player death will drain 15% sanity from all other players.During setup phase sanity can not go below 50%.Also, "responds to people who are alone/everyone" on the mission board is not a clue as to the type - we've got that "alone" on Oni before. Poltergeists are constantly messing with everything (lights, knocking pictures down, throwing stuff off tables) regardless of if anybody is nearby or not. Demons are just nuttily aggro all the time. if you go in together and it's going nuts, but when it's only one of you the ghost is quiet, it's probably an Oni. ![]() No disturbed salt and no footprints means nothing.Īlso pay attention to when the ghost is active - some give pretty good clues there. Salt is unreliable and tells you nothing, beyond that a: the ghost clearly wandered through there, and b: if you spot footprints it is not a wraith (according to the book). Gorbs and EMF level 5 are the dodgiest and can take the longest to find. If the temperature isn't freezing by 5 minutes in, then it probably won't ever be, but otherwise don't write anything you haven't found off. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence in this case - just keep looking. Always bring thermometers - best tool for ghost finding in this game.Ĭycle through 'em - and once you have two things, you can usually rule out some evidence types by seeing which ghost types it could be (and therefore what it wouldn't be). If you don't find the haunted room in the first pass, try again. *Temperature - sometimes the room starts normal temperature and cools off as the ghost gets riled up. Or leave one near an area it's active and come running when you hear it beeping. If it knocks something down or moves a door, run over and use the EMF reader. Keep the reader on your person and just listen for stuff. *EMF - the level 5 ones also do level 2-4, and I've seen non-EMF5 ones throw EMF4. if you fling them all the way open, look for ones partially closed or closed) and check again When we first started playing, we thought ghost writing was very dodgy - but it feels pretty reliable now, just have to wait. *Writing - put the book in early (or multiple books if you have them) - I put them near choke points, and reposition them if there's no response after a few minutes. That said, it's one of the most reliable, after temperature. Alternate questions, walk around, and if you can tell where the ghost currently is (not just where it's haunting) then try to stick close and dog it with your queries. *Spirit box doesn't always work immediately - standing in the dark alone helps, I think, but I've used it multiple times when looking at a tripped motion sensor in the same room, and got "no response" until I'd asked a half dozen questions. I don't think the gorbs are related to the ghost actually being in the room - we've seen no gorbs in a room, and the motion sensor getting triggered, on ghosts that ended up being gorb ghosts. *Gorbs sometimes won't show up until the ghost is good and angry (or maybe active?) - move the cameras periodically, and watch for a while whenever you do watch. Some random tips we've managed to figure out. I'm no super expert at this game, but it seems like all the evidence types are pretty dodgy - except temperature. Gorbs don't always show up immediately - seems like sometimes you have to wait for the ghost to get going.
